Casa Desax

Restoration of the rococo house and use as a literature and guest house

The hospitable CASA DESAX is intended to optimally complement and expand the cultural offerings of TRUN CULTURA. Various uses are being examined, particularly in the area of communicating Rhaeto-Romanic literature, including the work of the Truns writer Hendri Spescha and other poets from the Surselva, but also as a guest house and artists’ residence.

From the GR heritage conservation report

“The home of the Caprez family, who were important to Trun, is of outstanding regional significance from a historical, local architectural and architectural-artistic point of view. Its structure and the exceptionally well-preserved historical building fabric make it a monument to upscale Grisons residential culture. Stylistic features (mansard roof, enfishades, rococo decorations) refer to the history of the builder, who was in French service. The recognizable renovations under Sepp Fidel Desax from around 1900 are also of high quality (façades, windows). Due to the reference to earlier stylistic periods practiced in historicism, these elements harmonize with the original substance.”

CASA DESAX guest and literature house

Literature, upscale hotels and culinary delights are to form a successful unit in the rococo villa CASA DESAX, which is centrally located in Trun. CASA DESAX is intended to anchor itself not only culturally, but also economically and touristically in Trun and ideally complement the ensemble of TRUN CULTURA with CASA CARIGIET, the SPAZI SPESCHA and the walk-in sculpture OGNA.

The Board of Directors has given its approval to the utilization concept and fundraising for the restoration of this listed building. So things are moving forward here too!
